A comprehensive Spine, Sports and Occupational Rehabilitation Facility

Dr. Howard Liss, M.D.

Dr. Howard Liss, M.D.

Co-founder of the PMR Center with his brother Donald in 1986,
Dr. Howard Liss pursued a dream of creating the most effective treatment center for the management of pain and disability. Dr. Liss appreciates the immeasurable value of physical well being, in athletics and in all facets of life. An avid athlete himself, (he enjoys tennis and golf and is retired from basketball) Dr. Liss has also created and coached numerous sports programs for children. Dr. Liss also recognizes the importance of physical health for psychological well being throughout life.

After being directed into Rehabilitation Medicine by his younger brother Donald, Dr. Liss served as chief resident at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. During that time he had a tremendous impact on orienting the educational programming toward sports and orthopedic diagnosis and rehabilitation.

Since residency, Drs. Howard and Donald Liss have assembled the most talented, committed and compassionate cohort of professionals who work as a team on the treatment of pain and disability. Howard has continued to further his own education through in-office academics, by teaching Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center residents, and teaching on a national level.

He has, along with 2 colleagues, co-authored a chapter, “History and Past Medical History,” in The Low Back Pain Handbooks First and Second Editions, both well-received texts for primary care practitioners
