of the PM&R Center with his brother Donald in 1986, Dr.
Howard Liss pursued a dream of creating the most effective
treatment center for the management of pain and disability.
Dr. Liss appreciates the immeasurable value of physical well
being, in athletics and in all facets of life. An avid athlete
himself, (he enjoys tennis and golf and is retired from basketball)
Dr. Liss has also created and coached numerous sports programs
for children. Dr. Liss also recognizes the importance of physical
health for psychological well being throughout life.
After being directed into Rehabilitation Medicine by his younger
brother Donald, Dr. Liss served as chief resident at Columbia
Presbyterian Medical Center in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
During that time he had a tremendous impact on orienting the
educational programming toward sports and orthopedic diagnosis
and rehabilitation.
Since residency, Drs. Howard and Donald Liss have assembled
the most talented, committed and compassionate cohort of professionals
who work as a team on the treatment of pain and disability.
Howard has continued to further his own education through
in-office academics, by teaching Columbia Presbyterian Medical
Center residents, and teaching on a national level.
