The Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Center has a newly expanded Hand Therapy Suite. The program will be directed by certified hand therapist Karina Manzano, OTR/L, CHT. Karina graduated from Quinnipiac College with a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy. Her experience has enabled her to develop expertise in the evaluation and treatment of complex injuries of the upper extremity including:

• Tendon/nerve repairs
• Fractures/dislocations
• Multiple traumas
• Arthritic conditions
• Amputations/replantations
• Cumulative trauma

Karina is highly skilled in:

• The fabrication of custom splints
• The use of modalities including ultrasound, NMES, TENS, HiVolt, and iontophoresis
• Wound care/scar management
• The development of comprehensive home programs/patient education
• The development of goal oriented exercises to restore motion and strength
